ACCOUNTANT – HEAD OFFICE (MIDRAND)
Job Purpose:
The position of an Accountant is required for the National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector in terms of its establishment Section 29(15)(a) of the Labour Relations Act as amended. The accountant will be responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial and administrative operations.
Requirements
- B Com Accounting
- Postgraduate qualification in Finance/Accounting an added advantage
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience at a similar level
- In-depth knowledge of financial principles and processes (IFRS, Tax Regulations and other applicable legislation)
- Good understanding of relevant legislation
- Good understanding of core business principles and processes
- Good tax knowledge
- Ability to work with auditors and manage external audits.
- Good knowledge of collective bargaining environment
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications

Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Finance Manager with the day-to-day finance activities.
- Support Council activities with maintaining, analysing, and reporting on financial accounting data.
- Perform various reconciliations as required by the Finance Manager.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and ensure adequate explanations for over/under expenditure.
- Preparation of Audit and Tax packs.
- Prepare and submit ad-hoc financial reports required by the Finance Manager.
- Aid the various business units on budgets, expenses, margins, and technical accounting matters.
- Debtors’ management and ensure levies collections adhere to the terms of the Main Collective Agreement (MCA).
- Provide financial support to procurement and cross-functional teams.
- Month-end processing
- Ensure that monthly contribution imports are received, uploaded on the accounting system and reconciled
- Ensure debtors receipts are correctly allocated on the accounting system and the age analysis also reconciles
- Prepare general ledger, accruals, provisions, depreciation and journals
- Assist with BBBEE administration
- Ad-hoc financial responsibilities
Remuneration Grade: Market related
