HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER (HEAD OFFICE – MIDRAND)


Job Purpose:

The position of a Human Resources Officer is required for the National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector in terms of its establishment Section 29(15)(a) of the Labour Relations Act as amended.
The Human Resources Officer will perform Generalist Human Resources Administrative functions supporting the National Human Resources Manager in achieving the Council’s Human Resources Strategic Objectives.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of an appropriate Grade 12 certificate.
  • Completed three-year qualification (Degree or Diploma) preferably in Human Resources Management or relevant equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a Generalist Human Resources Environment performing functions including but not limited to; Recruitment & Selection, Human Resources Administration, Payroll Administration, Performance Management, Training and Development, Employee Wellness, and Labour Relations.

Duties & Responsibilities  

Recruitment and Selection:

  • Ensure that the recruitment process is followed in order to recruit effectively and efficiently. 
  • Facilitate the administrative functions of the shortlisting process. 
  • Schedule interviews for shortlisted candidates.
  • Conducting employment screening and vetting processes for successful candidates. 
  • Facilitate the on boarding process of successful candidates and ensuring all take-on documentation is readily prepared.
  • Ensure new employee induction/orientation planning and co-ordination takes place.

HR Administration:

  • Responsible for all administration related to employee life cycle including new engagements, payroll, employee changes, leave analysis, terminations.
  • Attend to general requests/queries from employees.
  • Co-ordinate HR deliverables.
  • Ensure guidance in line with HR Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide employees with documents such as confirmation of employment letters, service letters, and UIF documentation.   
  • Accurate filing and record keeping systems are maintained.

Performance Management & Training and Development

  • Provide employees with relevant documentation with regards to performance management and reviews. 
  • Ensure that KPA’s are submitted timeously, maintain a checklist of mid-year and year-end reviews.
  • Address all general performance management or appraisal queries received from employees and management.
  • Manage the administrative functions of the Study Assistance Policy. 

Employee Wellness

  • Assist with employee wellness related initiatives.
  • Keep record of all employee wellness issues reported safely and confidentially.
  • Oversee the maintenance of up-to-date records of all reported employee wellness issues.

Labour Relations:

  • Prepare all documentation/information for Disciplinary Hearings and CCMA cases.
  • Set up internal disciplinary hearings and grievance meetings and take minutes.
  • Ensure that all disciplinary and grievance records are kept in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures.

Knowledge & Expertise 

  • Computer Literate – Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven experience as a Generalist Human Resources Officer
  • Extensive knowledge of the Human Resources Value Chain
  • Knowledge of Labour Legislation, Collective Bargaining and the South African Labour Market
