The National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector (“NBCPSS”) has noted, with concern, a notice circulating on various social media platforms which states that strike action will take place on 1 March 2025 with no end date.
The NBCPSS wishes to state categorically that the contents of that message are untrue and have been made with an attempt to cause chaos and uncertainty in the industry.
The NBCPSS confirms that there currently exists a Main Collective Agreement which provides for the terms and conditions of employment in the security services industry that is operative until 2027. There cannot be any strike action on any of the issues as they have been negotiated and concluded on for the full period of the Main Collective Agreement.
We encourage all employees and employers to refrain from forwarding the false social media notice and invite any interested party with further questions to send all enquires to the NBCPSS mailbox at reception@nbcpss.org.za.
For the official circular on this notice, please follow this link https://nbcpss.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Circular-13.11.2024-False-notice-on-strike-action.pdf
We thank you for your co-operation.
Nothing is being done to security companies that have been cheating the security officers. For example, Phiri Phiri in Vaal University of Technology site has being underpaying its security officers. Even to-date, they are still not paying according to Government Gazette of Security.
Good Day Ndumiso,
Please lodge a complaint by contacting us on 010 800 2321 or email us at complaints@nbcpss.org.za.
In the meantime we will arrange for an agent to go and conduct an inspection there.
There’s still a lot of security companies which are still exploiting employees by using a labour contract method of Ubuntu whereby you are not entitled to Provident fund and bonus as these is compulsory as per bargaining council collective agreement and to me it seems the war in private security sector companies is not over yet cause we’re still fighting even today employers doesn’t want to stop this exploitation and on the other side bargaining council just turn on a blind eye like nothing is happening
Thank you for raising your concern. The NBCPSS is committed to protecting employees’ rights, including Provident Fund and bonus contributions. If you believe your employer is not complying, please report it to us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. For Provident Fund-related complaints, you can contact the PSSPF directly. Their contact details are available on our website: https://nbcpss.org.za/contact-us/.
