ADVERT: LEGAL COUNSEL (HEAD OFFICE – MIDRAND)

Job Purpose: 

The position of Legal Counsel is required for the National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector in terms of its establishment Section 29(15)(a) of the Labour Relations Act as amended. 

To administer legal, regulatory and compliance processes of the NBCPSS. 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• LLB degree or equivalent qualification
• Admission as an Attorney in South Africa 
• At least 5 years’ experience in labour law at associate level  
• At least 3 – 5 years’ experience in litigation practice
• At least 3 – 5 years’ Public Entity experience
• Experience in dealing with Department of Employment and Labour practices, Bargaining Councils, CCMA, Labour Court with appearance at the Labour Appeal Court & High Court being advantageous. 
• In possession of a current valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle. 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Drafting of all legal documents including but not limited to litigation, affidavits, review applications, etc. 
• Conducting and processing of all litigation processes
• Handling rescission applications
• Advising and consulting with regards to all legal matters. 
• Representation of Council in all legal proceedings
• Overseeing the Exemptions and Appeals processes.
• Instituting Risk Management strategies
• Attending to legal research

Knowledge & Expertise 

• Extensive knowledge of labour law legislation 
• CCMA/Labour Court Matters expertise 
• Knowledge of Collective Bargaining 
• Legal Drafting
• Knowledge of utilisation of MS Office

• Good communication skills – both verbal and written
• Technical knowledge of Labour / Employment Law
• Ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment without compromising work quality or standards
