On this year’s Nelson Mandela Day, the National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector (NBCPSS) embodied the spirit of generosity at the New Jerusalem Children’s Home.
The NBCPSS team visited the home, bringing with them a much needed washing machine and bags of laundry detergent. This thoughtful donation was set to significantly ease the daily workload for the home’s staff, allowing them to focus more time and energy on caring for the young ones.
By choosing to support a children’s home, we aligned our actions with Mandela’s vision for the youth. As Mandela once said, ” Our children are our future and one of the basic responsibilities is to care for them in the best and most compassionate manner possible.”
This act of kindness served as a reminder that even seemingly small gestures can make a significant difference in people’s lives.
This example set by the NBCPSS inspired many as Mandela’s legacy was reflected upon. It prompted the question: How did others spend their 67 minutes making the world a little bit better?
